Chelsea offer astronomical money for Kaka
July 6, 2008
According to Adriano Galliani, the vice president of Italian giants AC Milan, Cheslea have made an astronomical offer for their Brazilian ace Kaka. Chelsea, backed by Roman Abramovich’s billions, have been chasing Kaka for some time now, plus their new coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, used to coach the Brazil team so has first hand knowledge of Kaka.
Adriano Galliani said to the Italian press:
We received an astronomical offer from Chelsea for Kaka.
Milan, who failed this season to reach the Champions League, could do with raising some capital to settle their debts. The lack of Champions League action next season would also make any move to Premiership tempting for Milan’s big stars.
With Adriano Galliani stating:
All we would need to do in order to wipe out our debts is sell Kaka and Pirlo.
Maybe there is hope of Kaka playing in the Premiership after all?
Andrei Arshavin worth £20 million?
July 6, 2008
There’s little doubt that Andrei Arshavin was one of the stars of Euro 2008, giving one of the performances of the tournament when Russia knocked out Holland in the quarterfinals. His current coach, Dick Advocaat, has slapped a £20 million value on the player as the Premiership’s elite queue up to tempt him away from Zenit St Petersburg
Arshavin however appears to be favouring a transfer to Spain, and Barcelona. Rumours are abound that currently Arshavin is in London speaking to two of richest clubs in England, Chelsea and Arsenal.
Dick Advocaat said about his acceptance that Arshavin may be leaving the club:
We can’t keep hold of the player if someone offers good money – in the region of £20m to £25m.
According to the player’s agent, Dennis Lachter, Chelsea are no longer interested after they sign Deco from Barcalona:
I don’t believe that after this acquisition of Deco the club have retained their interest in Arshavin.

Manchester United Win European Cup
May 21, 2008
Manchester United have lifted the European Cup in one of the best Final’s of recent years beating Chelsea 6-5 on penalties after a 1-1 after extra time. The tie had it all, blood, sweat, tear, sending off, woodwork being hit and missed penalties. Edwin Van der Saar proved to be the Hero saving Nicolas Anelka’s penalty to give United the win in sudden death. The villain Didier Drogba who was sent off late on for a slap and John Terry proved to be the unlucky one, he hit the post from his penalty when scoring would have won the game.

The game over 120 minuets was amazing with United taking the lead. Wes Brown crossed following a neat one-two with Paul Scholes to find Cristiano Ronaldo who leaped above Michael Essien to head in. Ronaldo’s 42 goal of the season.
United had been the better side in the first half and nearly extended the lead, a double save from Cech denied Carlos Tevez and then Michael Carrick. Tevaz also spurned a chance missing a Wayne Rooney cross.
Chelsea managed an equaliser in the first half, a shot from Essien deflected off two United players to Frank Lampard who smashed home pas Van der Saar who slipped.
In the second half Chelsea had long periods of possession and hit the post via Drogba and then the underside of the bar via Lampard in extra time. It did start to turn a little nasty late on and when Carlos Tevez somewhat un-sportingly urged his teammates forward after giving the ball back to Chelsea following an injury and 20 man pushing session started. In the mist of it Drogba slapped Vidic in-front of the ref and received his marching orders.

Into penalties and the first four resulted in goals from Tevez and Michael Carrick for United who were taking first and Ballack and Juliano Belletti following suit for Chelsea.
Goal scorer Ronaldo stepped up with his stopped run up gave Cech a relatively easy save. to make to give Chelsea a very good chance. Lampard scored as did fellow England colleague Owen Hargreaves. Ashley Cole’s then scored and Nani held his nerve scoring to take it to the Chelsea to score to win.
Chelsea captain John Terry stepped up and hit the post slipping in the process. Into sudden death. Anderson and Kalou both converted and so did Ryan Giggs who made a record breaking 759th appearance for his only ever team. That put the pressure on Anelka who fired to Van der Sar’s right for a comfortable save.
Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand lifted the European Cup to crown United Champions of Europe.
United leave for Moscow
May 19, 2008
Manchester United left this afternoon for Moscow for the Champions League Final on Wednesday against Chelsea. The United team looking very smart set off from Manchester airport with a pretty much full strength squad, I’m guessing it’s just Louis Saha is injured.
There is going to be around 40,000 fans traveling from England but there ares still some tickets on sale. Many have been put off by the huge prices for travel and accommodation in the Russian capital. Chelsea will most likely have John Terry and Didier Drogba back after the pair picked up injuries on the last day of the season.
The game kicks off on Wednesday at 19:45, you have a choice of viewing, ITV or Sky Sports? What will it be Clive Tyldesley or Martin Tyler ???
Chelsea sign Jose Bosingwa for £16.2 Million
May 12, 2008
The season only just ended and the spending has started with Chelsea splashing out £16.2 Million on Jose Bosingwa from Porto. Jose Bosingwa is the Portuguese right back and has 6 caps to his name so far. Bosingwa was born in DR Congo but moved to Portugal at a young age, he played at SC Freamunde and Boavista FC before moving to Porto in 2003 to join up with José Mourinho.
He’s won the league in Portugal 4 times and was part of Porto’s Champions League winners in 2003-04. He’s a quick lad and likes to attack the opposition full back which is something Chelsea have missed from the right back spot.
The move seem like the end of Claude Makele’s stay at Chelsea as it will mean the impressive Michael Essien will move from right back into the middle of the park replaceing Makele.
Chelsea keep the title alive beating Newcastle
May 5, 2008
After Manchester United resounding win yesterday Chelsea have keep up the heat at the top of the table beating Newcastle 2-0 this afternoon. The win puts Chelsea level on points with United with one game to go, at the moment United are top with a far superior goal difference.
The goals this afternoon came in the second half from Michael Ballack and Florent Malouda. Newcastle could had led in the first half, Michael Owen having two good chances. Ballacks goal was a header from a Drogba free-kick and Malouda latched onto a Lampard pass to secure the win.
United face Wigan in the final game of the season who are in good form, meanwhile Chelsea will face Bolton at Stamford Bridge.

Lampard scored from the spot in extra time and Drogba grabbed his second on the match to make it 3-1. Bable grabed a late goal for the away side but Chelsea held firm.

Battle at the Bridge – Punch aimed at Patrice Evra
April 29, 2008
After the Chelsea V Manchester Untied game there was a bit of a bust up with the Chelsea ground staff and the Manchester United players. Apparantly Patrice Evra was racially abused and then it all kicked off. From other footage United players were running in the box which is against the rules of warming down.
Anyway, here’s the punch aimed at Patrice Evra from a Chelsea staff member, he misses and almost whacks a steward.
Ballack double keeps title alive
April 27, 2008
A Michael Ballack brace kept the title race alive yesterday as Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-1 at the Bridge. It was a cracking match which did boil over at times and it did after the game when Manchester United players brawled with Chelsea ground staff.
The game sparked into life straight away and it was Chelsea having the early chances, Joe Cole hitting the post before Michael Ballack headed in from a Drogba cross just before the half time break. Drogba had been involved earlier in the game in a incident with Nemanja Vidic, Drogba accidently kneed Vidic in the face. The Manchester United defender was stretched off with a cut mouth.
Chelsea pushed on in the second half but it was United who scored next when Ricardo Carvalho’s awful backpass found Wayne Rooney. The United forward slotted the ball past Cech to set the game up for a grand stand finish.
Carrick hand-balled Essien’s cross, the linesman gave the penalty and Michael Ballack smashed the ball past Van der Saar who dived the wrong way.
It wasn’t over then with United having two shots cleared off the line, first Ashley Cole saving from Ronaldo and then Shevchenko.
A great game of football which keeps the title alive with United being top just by goal difference with two games to go.
