Battle at the Bridge – Punch aimed at Patrice Evra

April 29, 2008

After the Chelsea V Manchester Untied game there was a bit of a bust up with the Chelsea ground staff and the Manchester United players. Apparantly Patrice Evra was racially abused and then it all kicked off. From other footage United players were running in the box which is against the rules of warming down.

Anyway, here’s the punch aimed at Patrice Evra from a Chelsea staff member, he misses and almost whacks a steward.

Kevin Ellison whacks the ball in the Referee’s face

April 21, 2008

It doesn’t get much better than this, ball + big bald LeagueTwo player + Ref = Ball in the face ref down. You don’t get this in the Premiership!

Flip throw-in in the face

April 12, 2008

I remember when I was younger seeing at a World Cup a player doing a flip before a throw-in, the idea was the spring on the up of the flip would help the player throw the ball further, in this instant it threw the ball harder…..straight into a defenders face. Whammy.

Beckham scores first goal for Galaxy

April 4, 2008

Yeha, great power play from the Galaxy led to Beckham’s first goal in the MLS as his side ran out 2-0 Winnners over San Jose Earthquakes (great name for team, named after a natural disaster which can kill millions). Beckham’s goal was neat finish under the legs of the goal keeper and he set up the second for teammate Donaovan.

See the highlights from the match below.

Eduardo interview – He’s walking about

March 9, 2008

It’s been a couple of weeks since the injury and the Arsenel forward suffered the double compound fracture and broken ankle after a poor tackle from Martin Taylor. He’s had his first interview its not in English but it does show him hobbling around on his crutches.

There are loads of videos on Youtube of the incident but my favourite is this one from Rusmatic who recreated the incident on Pro Evo.

What could be worse than watching Man City V Wigan? Losing your chips!

March 4, 2008

Anyone who had the displeasure to watch Manchester City Vs Wigan on Sunday will have witnessed one of the worst games of the season. Luckily for me I only listened to the match on BBC Five Live, my heart goes out to poor old Alan Green and Jimmy Armfield had to sit there and talk about the game!

It seems that there is a three way divide in the Premier League now, teams scrapping for survival, teams in mid table meritocracy and those in the top 4 (maybe top 5 with the push of Everton). All this means that if you get two teams playing against each other who are mid table at this stage of the season it’s going to be a dire affair. In the case of Manchester City, they are in the mid table area and Wigan won’t attack for a win at Eastlands they would rather sit back and aim take an easy point.

Anyway,  as the second half was starting this little lad lost his chips, its down to inexperience of food consumption at football match, if your eating chips or any food from a tray you need to have your thumb on the top, stopping the tray flying away in the wind. He’ll gain that knowledge from experience.

P.S. note the commentator with a cracking lisp, Manccchesssster CCCity…..

Spurs celebrate Cup win by going on the lash

February 26, 2008

After the cup final win on Sunday the Spurs players were allowed a break from their strict diet set by Juande Ramos and proceeded to go on the lash in Essex. It appears that with some of the players not being on the booze for the deserved drink went to their heads and they ended up in a brawl. Ledley King was thrown out of Faces for being too drunk and then it all kicked off.

There are photos of the incident but a video is better with a rap track as the backing track

Soccer Saturday – Liverpool 1 – 2 Barnsley – Phil Thompson reaction

February 20, 2008

Last Saturday we witnessed a great cup shock when Barnsley of the Championship beat the stuttering Liverpool. Brian Howard smashed in a 90th minute from 20 yards. As the goal went in at Anfield the lads at the Soccer Saturday studio went wild as Phil Thompson couldn’t believe what was happening.

Jimmy Bullard fishing video

February 8, 2008

Fulham’s Jimmy Bullard is going to be essential if Roy Hodgson is going keep them in the Premier League this season. After a bad knee injury Bullard has been in great form ofver the past few days and put in a man of the match performance against Aston Villa.

Bullard’s other passion is fishing, not very glamorous or typical of a Premiership footballer but he seems to have just as much fun. Soccer AM caught (sorry for the pun!) up with him to create the Jimmy Bullard fishing video.
