Manchester City favourites to sign Ronaldinho
July 14, 2008
Ronaldinho, once the greatest player on the world, looks set to sign for Manchester City, according to Barcelona’s president. Laporta.
Man City are battling it with out Italian giants AC Milan for the Brazilian World Cup winner, with City having reportedly bid £25.5 million for Ronaldinho’s signature.
Barca president Laporta stated:
Ronaldinho and his agent have two interesting proposals and they are leaning more towards the one from City.
Barca have said they’ll be discussing Ronaldinho’s future with his agent today, though it’s not known whether they’ll be meeting with either Milan or City.
Barca started pre-season training this morning, and Ronaldinho was very conspicuous with his absence. Barca announced in June that Ronaldinho was no longer required at the club, alerting Europe’s big sides to his availability. Despite Ronaldinho’s obvious talents however, only Milan and Manchester City have shown any serious interest.

Reaction to “Battle of Britain” draw
March 14, 2008
Arsenal and Liverpool face a battle of Britain tie in the quarter finals of the Champions League after being drawn together in this mornings draw.
1999 winners Manchester United will face Roma, who disposed of Real Madrid in the last round whilst Chelsea face Fenerbahce. The other tie of the round paired Schalke 04 with Barcelona.
In terms of the semi final draw the winner of the Arsenal v Liverpool tie will face Chelsea or Fenerbahce whilst Manchester United or Roma will face either Schalke 04 or Barcelona.
Looking a little deeper into matters, if Chelsea dispose of Fenerbahce which they should do with some ease, England will be guaranteed a place in the final of Europe’s elite competition.
Both Arsenal and Liverpool personnel have acted quickly to convey their disappointment at drawing each other rather than a continental side. Speaking to the BBC, Liverpool CEO Rick Parry stated –
“I think we’d hoped to avoid an English team. But, statistically, an all-English tie was bound to happen and it’s happened to us. I guess at least we’ve avoided a trip to Turkey.
Quite right Rick – think of all those air miles you will save whilst providing the good old arm chair fan with some compelling viewing.
The Pieman cant wait for the Champions League to take centre stage again and believes that the winner of the impending Manchester United v Barcelona semi final will ultimately lift the trophy in May.

Brazilian legend fights to extend career
March 13, 2008
Brazilian Legend Ronaldo has dismissed claims that he is set for retirement stating that it is too early to discuss the prospect.
The AC Milan striker suffered ruptured tendons in his left knee during a Serie A match with Livorno recently and is set to be out of action for the next nine months as a result.
Ronaldo’s fitness and excessive weight have been cited by many people as reason enough to call time on his career, yet the chances of him making a full recovery from this recent injury are spurring the Brazilian on in terms of extending his time at Milan.
Speaking to the Milan Channel Ronaldo stated –
“For now it’s too early to talk about a decision, but I’m ready for this big challenge, which is returning to play”
The Brazilian suffered a similar set back during his time at Inter Milan, albeit affecting his right leg – he was to be out of action for twenty months – a period he surely cannot successfully endure again.
Winning is Everything salutes Ronaldo for in commitment to returning to the game, but realistically this should signal the end for arguably one of the most talented strikers the world has ever seen.
