Football League top 50 players
March 3, 2008

Every year FourFourTwo magazine releases it’s list of the top 50 players in the Football League. The Football League comprising of three divisions is where the real entertainment is, anyone see the Man City V Wigan game? more entertainment can found on the end of a peir in a seside resort. Unfortunately it the list does have to include some players from League One and Two when its quite clear that the list should be mostly populated with Championship and some League One players.
WBA forward Kevin Phillips won the award, Andy Grey of Charlton (yet to score for the Addicks) was second and Micheal Kightly of Wolves in third.
Some of the decision for seem strange in my opinion, for example, Wes Hoolahan of Blackpool, admittedly he can be class on his day but over the past 12 months Kaspars Korkss has been the standout player for Blackpool. Dean Windass from Hull who is a thug and James Beattie from Sheffield United who has been rubbish. They seem to be rewarding the ‘names’ rather than the player for their efforts over the past 12 months
The list in full.
