Grays face suspension threat
March 6, 2008
Blue Square Premier outfit Grays Athletic have been threatend with suspension from all football if they do not pay £14,000 to a former player currently serving eight years for armed robbery.
Ashley Sestanovich played one pre season friendly for the club before his arrest and the FA have concluded that the remaining fees owed to him by the club are still valid.
Grays have been granted two weeks to pay Sestanovich the outstanding five months pay as well a £500 fine and hearing costs.
Sestanovich was jailed for eight years for his part in an armed robbery which left one man dead.
Winning is Everything thinks this action towards Grays is despicable - who the hell do the FA think they are? This “player” helped take part in an armed robbery where one poor bloke got killed and now Grays are under threat of suspension for not paying his wages? Come on this has gone too far now if the case wasnt so serious this would be laughable and is yet another example of the FA acting the big boy with clubs who do not have the weight to fight back. If this had been Chelsea or Manchester United what would happen then - absolutely nothing!
To his credit, Grays Chairman Mike Woodward told the BBC that ” my principles will not allow me to pay this money from either my own pocket or from the club’s”
Fair play to you Sir!
Mr Woodward goes on to say -
“We are being forced to pay approximately £14,000 to a player who only had three training sessions and 20 minutes in a pre-season friendly due to his involvement in a heinous crime which saw a young father shot in cold-blood.”
The FA have gone one step too far this time - show your support by adding your name underneath this article and lets help Grays overturn this morally corrupt decision!

Got something to say?

FA is bang out of order -
1. Sestanovich has assisted in killing someone
2. He isn’t playing anymore so what is he supposed to be paid for
The FA are a joke they allways want f****n money all the time chargein little clubs like grays i will stick up 4 u grays The FA are crap
Another example of the lack of common sense that prevails today. The idiots that make these decisions need naming and shaming.
The FA are a joke
They wont discipline refs for making bad decisions, yet they seem to endorse this ex-players actions including the death of a man by demanding he gets paid ?
PATHETIC !
Grays shouldn’t have to pay out. It’s Sestanovich’s fault in getting involved in such hideous crime.
