Hicks calls for Parry to go

April 10, 2008

The continuing saga of Hicks V Gillett has taken another turn with Tom Hicks asking Rick Parry Liverpool’s chief executive to go. Parry who has been at Anfield for ten years has now found himself in the middle of the spat between the two American owners just as interested buyers Dubai International Capital (DIC) have said they want no part in a take over until the two American’s sort their differences out.

This news came to light today after Tom Hicks sent a letter to Parry asking for his resignation following comments made by Parry on BBC’s Five Live Radio.

The BBC understands Parry is unlikely to resign and it would also take a majority vote from the board for Hicks to get Parry out of the club, and that boardroom at the moment isn’t behind Tom Hicks at all.

It’s all very strange timing for the club 24 hours after the Reds reached the semi finals of the Champions League beating Arsenal which will have put a few million on the price of the club. Interested buyers DIC have come out in a magazine saying they want no part to play in the club until the two partners start to see eye to eye.

It’s all a mess at the moment and there is still growing support for Share Liverpool FC a group of fans who have already have pledges of £60 million!
