Macclesfield face tough time to avoid the drop

March 11, 2008

League Two strugglers Macclesfield Town face a relegation six pointer tonight when they make the trip to Dagenham and Redbridge.

John Still’s side, currently enjoying their first season in the Football League, have boosted their chance of survival with five consecutive victories. That run did however come to an end last weekend when promotion chasing Peterborough United claimed the spoils in a five goal thriller.

Meanwhile the Silkmen’s baron steak continued with a one nil reversal at Brentford. After the game Winning is Everything caught up with Macc fan Steve Lee who was less than impressed –

“ We were shocking, but it is a regular thing these days. Absolute garbage, we have the football world’s rejects playing for us for peanuts and wonder why we struggle!”

Strong words from a committed fan – anyone who travels all that way has to be a diehard haven’t they?

Steve goes on to say –

“ I hope we get out of this mess but I cant see it – there is no commitment from the players who seem to be all set on relegation”

Come now come now – surely its not that bad?

Macc are set to make several changes to the line up for tonight’s encounter. Michael Symes is set to be replaced by Fola Odajye whilst Maltese international Luke Dimech is said to be challenging for a return to the first team.

Winning is Everything wishes the Silkmen all the best – I have always enjoyed my days out at Moss Rose and hope that they get out of their current troubles.

Realistically though, they are my bet to face the drop particularly considering the games in hand at their rival’s disposal.
