Sunderland go for Bardsley

Phil Bardsley

Roy Keane likes to know who he’s dealing with.

Keano has once again visited old stomping grounds to find his next signing by signing United right-back Phil Bardsley to a permanent deal.

Bardsley, 22, joins the ranks at Sunderland taking the number of ex-United players to a grand total of 6. And thats just those on the pitch.

Messrs McShane, Higginbotham, Richardson, Yorke and Cole all played at Old Trafford, while Northern Ireland international young defender Jonny Evans is currently on loan with the Black Cats.

Bardsley made 18 appearances in total for Man U, although the majority of the time he was on loan somewhere else. With Wes Brown first-choice cover for the legend that is Gary Neville and the emergence of other youthful talent such as Danny Simpson Bardsley has found opportunities hard to come by.
