Suprise Surprise Ince signs another Silkman!
February 1, 2008
MK Dons boss Paul Ince is at it again – Carl Regan has become fifth Macclesfield Town play to join the Dons since he turned his back on the Moss Rose club in the summer.
Regan, 27 is hardly the most exciting of defenders even for League Two level, in fact at times he has struggled to get into The Silkmen’s team, but Mr Ince who has basically bought himself top spot so far, is seemingly not bothered about long term quality signings – just pillaging his old club for literally all they have.
The Pieman is very concerned about this sorry state of affairs. Macclesfield gave Ince his first Managerial opportunity – a massive risk considering that they were bottom of the table and without a win all season at the time. Following the expected honeymoon period, it has to be said that the football on show was as bad as it had been under former Manager Brian Horton.

Let us get one thing straight here – Paul Ince did not save Macclesfield Town from relegation last season. Two things saved the club and these were –
- The FA Cup draw against Chelsea – (4 out of 4 wins following this)
- Assistant Ray Mathias. By far the most influential and knowledgeable of the pairing yet Ince laps up all the praise.
So for all you blinded journalists who spout any old rubbish to sensationalise a story there you have it – Ince did not produce the miracle you need to write about when linking him with every job under the sun. It is misleading, void of factual reference and fundamentally absolute tosh.
After revelling in the praise and adulation of doing absolute jack Ince then went on his merry way to MK Dons and proceeded to spend a large chunk of Mr Winkleman’s hard earned cash to secure top spot in the League. However in securing the services of five of the Macclesfield players he worked with he appears to have undergone a memory loss as at the end of the 2006/7 season he told the Macclesfield fans that there would have to be a top to bottom clearout and rebuilding of the team!
So let me get this right – five players who were not good enough to play for a side down at the bottom of the League are good enough to play for a side at the top? He has lost the plot the man has – the only player Ince has signed who could hack League One football is Danny Swailes – the others wouldn’t make it in some Conference sides.
So what on earth is going on – is the Guvnor losing his marbles or just generally extracting the urine out of one of the smallest teams in the League.
Either way it stinks and I cannot see Ince getting the top job he so wants if he carries on acting in such a manner and to be quite frank with an obvious lack of football knowledge.
So go on Carl Regan – follow the other sheep but I wouldn’t say you had a very secure future at all…….
