The Shots Are Back

April 16, 2008

Aldershot Town secured promotion last night and a return to the football league after 16 years since Aldershot FC folded. Promotion was secured last night with just a draw with Exeter.

Scott Donnelly grabed the equaliser for the Shots ending the game 1-1. It was all they needed to take the title and promote them out of the Blue Square Premier into League Two.

Aldershot Town Football Club came out of the ashes when Aldershot FC folded in the middle of the 1992 season. Later in the year the club as it as known now was set up and started playing in the Isthmian League Division Three.

They managed to win the Isthmian League Division Three in the first year of trying and after numerous promotions they now find themselves back in the league under the stewardship of manager Gary Waddock a former QPR midfielder.
