Wilson targets League One play-offs
March 10, 2008
Hartlepool United boss Danny Wilson has stated that he still has play off ambitions despite being eight points off the pace in League Once. Wilson who saw his side conclude a resounding four nil win against Gillingham on Saturday, goes into tomorrow’s clash with Huddersfield Town brimming with confidence.
Saturday provided Pool with their first back to back victories since August following last Tuesday’s victory at Oldham Athletic which effectively banished any fears of a speedy return back to League Two.
Yet any notion that Huddersfield will be walkovers is ill conceived who face the monkey hangers on the back of an impressive one nil victory at Leyton Orient at the weekend.
The Terriers are level on points with the Victoria Park outfit but Wilson believes that his side’s recent run of good form could propel them into the Championship. Speaking to the Sunderland Echo the former Sheffield Wednesday supremo stated –
“It’s never too late, there’s thirty odd points to play for… you have got to have that belief that you can go and win every game you play in and that’s the belief we have. Whether we will do or not is another matter.
Fair play for his determination and confidence but I am prepared to wager a fiver that Pool have left it a little late this season but should be there or there abouts in 08/09
